How can I get a book from another CUNY Library?

Is there a book you need from another library within CUNY, but you don't want to travel all the way there to get it? You can request that the book get sent to BMCC (or another CUNY Library) to pick it up. This service is known as CLICS. Requests are made through OneSearch.

Note: You must be able to enter the BMCC Campus to pick books up here. This FAQ entry explains the requirements if you're still unsure. If you're planning on picking books up from another CUNY Library, you need to check with them what their requirements are.

  1. Do a search in OneSearch, but make sure to select "All CUNY" from the menu to see books from outside of BMCC
OneSearch main screen with a search for the term "psychology" showing that the "All CUNY" option is after the "BMCC" one
  2. Books available elsewhere in CUNY will say "Check for Available Services" on the search results. Click on that to view more information about the book.
Search results screen showing a book, and the location of the "Check for Available Services" information
  3. You should see this on the screen. At this point, you will have to sign in using your CUNY Login (same login information as Blackboard/CUNYFirst)
Alert on a OneSearch record saying that "to see more request options, sign in" (you need to sign in)
  4. Once you've signed in, if the book can be requested, you will see a link that says "From Any CUNY Library"
Full results for the book you're requesting, showing that under "How to get it" is a link that says "From any CUNY Library".
  5. Clicking that link will open the request form. The title will be filled in automatically. The email address shown is where you will get an email when the book is ready for you to pick up. By default the pickup location is the BMCC Library, but you can change it if you'd rather pick up the book from another library. When you're ready, hit "Send Request" at the bottom.
