How do I embed e-reserves into Blackboard for my students?

If you are an instructor, you can embed your course's e-reserve content (hosted by the library) directly into Blackboard. The instructions below explain how to link the reserves using Blackboard's tools.

  1. Go into your course in Blackboard and go to your course content Location of content in the course menu in Blackboard

  2. Under Build Content, look for BMCC LibGuides (you may need to scroll down a little) Course Content- Build content menu and the location of BMCC Libguides on the list

  3. Fill out the form for how you want to label the link in Blackboard (including any visibility and tracking options you use for your course) and hit Submit. Adding course content dialog box in Blackboard

  4. All you’ve done is make a placeholder so far. Now let’s attach your readings. Click on the link you just created in your content list Your newly-created course readings link in your course content

  5. You’ll be brought to a page that looks like this in Blackboard, click Launch Interstitial screen- Attention! The LTI will open a new tool

  6. On the first dropdown, select the only option, “Library Guides- bmcc.libguides.com”

  7. A “Content Type” dropdown will now appear. You can select individual Library Guides and other things too, but we’re interested in the E-Reserves Course Page. It’s the last choice on the list and you’ll have to scroll down to see it (or you can search for “Course Page”)

  8. Now you’ll be able to select a course. Find your course on the list (or search for it) and select it. Then select “Embed Content”

  9. You’ll get a message from Blackboard saying it was successful. (You’ll have to use the navigation breadcrumbs along the top to return to your course content.)

  10. To check that it works, enter Student Preview mode. Clicking on the link first brings up the LTI screen from before (you’ll need to click Launch again)

  11. But then you’ll see the content. While accessing e-reserves through the library requires a password, embedding it this way does not.
